Real change
starts within.

Most approaches treat the symptoms. We go deeper. Through a unique blend of trauma-informed therapy and transformative life coaching, these intensive workshops help you understand what's really driving your patterns — and give you the tools, the community, and the embodied experience to finally change them.

"Breaking the Cycle"

Understanding Addiction & the Path to Healing

📅 Saturday, May 17, 2025 · 9:00am – 5:00pm  ·  📍 Winnetka Community House
Addiction Recovery Compassion

A compassionate, science-backed full day exploring addiction not as a moral failing, but as a response to pain. Whether you are personally affected or supporting someone you love, this workshop will change how you understand the cycle — and how to begin breaking it.

What the day looks like
  • Safe, non-judgmental group container to open the morning
  • Neuroscience of addiction — how the brain gets hijacked and why willpower alone never works
  • NARM-informed exploration of how early wounds and unmet needs fuel the cycle
  • Body-based check-ins, reflective writing, and small group sharing
  • Practical tools: urge surfing, the HALT check-in, grounding techniques, and compassionate substitution
  • Supporting loved ones — setting boundaries from love, not control
  • Closing circle and a clear plan for what comes next
$449
Full day · 9am–5pm · Continental breakfast & lunch included

"Unstuck"

Moving Forward When Life Feels Stalled

📅 Saturday, June 7, 2025 · 9:00am – 5:00pm  ·  📍 Winnetka Community House
Growth Momentum Coaching

For anyone feeling frozen in their career, relationships, habits, or sense of purpose. This full day gives you the understanding, tools, and embodied experience to start moving again — not by pushing harder, but by working with your nervous system instead of against it.

What the day looks like
  • Icebreaker that immediately normalizes the experience — you'll feel relief hearing others name the same feelings
  • Neuroscience of stuckness — why freeze happens and why "just push through" makes it worse
  • NARM-informed exploration of how unmet needs keep us frozen long after the original wound
  • Body-based exercise to locate where you feel the stuckness, plus journaling prompts to surface what's underneath
  • The "small moves" framework — how tiny actions rebuild momentum without overwhelming your nervous system
  • Guided future-self visualization and a letter from the person you're becoming
  • Paired accountability exercise — leave with one concrete next step and someone to check in with

Your Facilitators

Therapy meets coaching

Shale and Matthew bring complementary expertise — clinical depth and coaching momentum — to create workshops that go deep and move forward.

Shale Marks

Shale Marks, LCSW, CADC

Therapist & NARM-Informed Practitioner

Shale is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and certified addiction counselor (CADC) with deep expertise in trauma-informed care. His work is informed by NARM — the NeuroAffective Relational Model — a leading approach to healing complex trauma and developmental wounds. Shale's practice centers on the connection between the nervous system, unresolved trauma, and the patterns that keep us stuck in cycles of pain. He brings clinical depth, genuine warmth, and a compassionate lens to everything he facilitates. When he's not in the therapy room, you'll find Shale on a hiking trail or a ski slope — someone who knows firsthand that healing happens when we get out of our heads and into our bodies.
